Delapre Fun and Volunteering Day

News Date:
Monday, November 1, 2021

Last week (Thursday 28th) we held our latest Community Fun and Volunteering Day at Delapre Abbey.

We are so glad with how the day went after inviting many local organisations who were offering brilliant volunteering opportunities to residents.

The grounds of Delapre made for the perfect location for residents to come and see us.

As you can see, there were lots of smiling faces, and we'd like to thank all of the brilliant local organisations that joined us on the day:

  • Family Support Link - Family Support Link provides free, accessible and non-judgmental support to those affected by another's substance misuse throughout Northamptonshire.
  • The Lowdown - the lowdown is a voluntary mental health charity, providing free and confidential counselling, emotional wellbeing, sexual health and LGBTQ support services for 11-25 year olds. They believe there is no need for young people to experience difficult situations alone.
  • Frank Bruno Foundation - The Frank Bruno Foundation exists to provide support, encouragement, and the motivation to succeed for those facing and recovering from mental ill-health. They provide opportunities to participate in a wellbeing and non-contact boxing programme, supported by a need led wraparound service.
  • Northampton Society of Model Engineers - The society is a friendly group of like-minded people aiming to encourage, develop and provide facilities for the hobby of model engineering.
  • Northampton Saints Foundation - The Northampton Saints Foundation uses the values of Northampton RFC and the power of sport to Inspire, Support and Educate young people and their communities. They work to drive positive change across Northamptonshire, and offer a range of programmes to create life changing opportunities for residents across the county.
  • RSPCA Northamptonshire Branch - The RSPCA Northamptonshire Branch is passionate about animals. Whether they’re big or small, young or old - they want to help as many as they can!
  • Warts and All Theatre - Warts and All is a local young person's theatre company. It believes that through theatre, everyone should be given the chance to speak their truth, enabling a society where everyone belongs, and communities can thrive.
  • NGH Volunteers - Northampton General Hospital's volunteers are an invaluable part of the hospital team. Volunteering with them means you'd be playing a part in delivering the best possible care to patients and their families, whether you're providing admin support in an office or working alongside ward teams.
  • Q Space Northants - Q Space works to improve the Northants LGBTQ+ and ally community in mind, body and spirit.
  • NLive Radio - NLive Radio is a community-based radio station that wants to entertain, inform and engage everyone who lives, works and visits Northampton.
  • Action for Happiness Northamptonshire - Action for Happiness is a small charitable initiative working hard to inspire practical action for a happier and more caring society.
  • Volunteer Passport - The Volunteer Passport aims to help more people get involved in volunteering, and provide a platform for Service Providers to recruit and support their volunteers.
  • Northamptonshire Emergency Service Volunteers - Northamptonshire Emergency Service Volunteers support the local fire and rescue, and ambulance services. Their amazing and vital work helps the frontline heroes focus on patient care and public safety. Volunteer opportunities include administrative support, training, driving/logistics and community outreach work.
  • Northamptonshire Emergency Service Cadets - The Northamptonshire Emergency Services Cadets deliver a combined Emergency Services curriculum allowing young people to develop skills across our Emergency Services as well as important social and life skills. NESC is a registered charity supported by Northamptonshire Police, Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue, and East Midlands Ambulance Service. They rely on volunteers to support the young people on the scheme.

We will be holding more days like this in the future, so please keep a look out and see how you may be able to get involved!
