Work has begun at Overslade House in East Hunsbury to transform the existing accommodation into 40 new family homes.

The former single person’s accommodation at Overslade House is currently vacant and is having a full refurbishment. Plans were approved in July to extend and reconfigure the building for 40 family apartments.

Energy and Regeneration Specialist, ENGIE who are NPH's Major Works contractor are carrying out the construction work.

The plans involve structural alterations and the creation of an additional fourth floor.

Further works include:

  • Creating ground floor accessible homes designed for people with disabilities;
  • Creating additional parking, as well as six accessible parking spaces by the entrance;
  • A Children’s play area
  • Gardens, including raised beds and drying areas
  • Outside balconies on upper floors.

Helen Town, Head of Asset Management at NPH said,

“There is a big need for more homes in Northampton, particularly for families. This is a really modern scheme that will include spacious apartments, private balconies and terraces as well as communal spaces for children to play. East Hunsbury is a great place for families and it has good facilities and schools on the door step. We’re really pleased to be working with ENGIE on this development.”
