Why not get started with these water saving tips ?

In the bathroom:

  • Turn off the tap when brushing your teeth. This could save up to 60 litres of water per day.
  • Shower for 60 seconds less each day. This could save you 15 litres per minute.
  • Use a water displacement device in your toilet cistern. They're easy to install and could save 1 litre of water each time you flush.
  • Order a free water saving kit from Anglian Water to receive a water displacement device, a shower timer, and other tools to help you cut down on water usage.

In the kitchen:

  • Wash one full load in your washing machine instead of two half loads, and save around 10 litres of water.
  • A running tap uses 15 litres every minute, so try washing fruit and vegetables in a bowl of fresh water instead.
  • Try to only fill the kettle with how much water you need. This will save water and energy.
  • Put a large bottle or jug of tap water in the fridge to make sure you have chilled water all the time. This will save water as you don't have to run the tap and wait for the water to run cold.

In the garden:

  • Use a watering can instead of a hosepipe to water the garden. This could save a massive 225 litres of water in 15 minutes!
  • Collect rainwater in a water butt to use in your garden. Also, save the water you washed the fruit and veg in and use that in to water the plants.
  • If you do use a hosepipe, attach a trigger nozzle to halve the the amount of water used.
